We are thrilled to announce that IP partner Jillian Burstein has been selected as Reed Smith's Leadership Council on Legal Diversity Fellow for 2025 - https://lnkd.in/eT6A2a2i We’re also pleased to report that insurance recovery lawyer Esther Kim and entertainment-media lawyer Edward Fultz have been named as our 2025 LCLD Pathfinders. This program is tailored for lawyers from diverse backgrounds with 8 to 15 years of experience, providing fellows with opportunities to connect with top general counsel and managing partners. Earlier today, to honor #BlackHistoryMonth, STAARS, Reed Smith's Black / African-American business inclusion group, hosted a firmwide webinar featuring The HistoryMakers, a national 501(c)(3) non-profit research and educational institution dedicated to preserving and sharing the personal stories of both renowned and unsung African Americans, and litigation partner and the firm's former Washington D.C. office managing partner A. Scott Bolden. Developed in collaboration with Carnegie Mellon University, the HistoryMakers provides access to a rich collection of oral histories and interviews featuring influential figures from the African American community. Scott, a second-generation lawyer born to civil rights activists, has been a trailblazer throughout his 35+ year career and is honored as a HistoryMaker. He is featured in the Digital Archive through interviews conducted on July 25, 2008, and September 10, 2012, where he shares insights into his career, leadership, and impact in the legal field. During the conversation, which was moderated by STAARS partner chair Elizabeth Brandon, Scott and HistoryMakers founder and executive director Julieanna Richardson spoke candidly about the importance of the preservation and documentation of African American history at a time when historical facts and references are being challenged. Scott also opened up about the moments of triumph and tribulation over the course of his venerable career. Reed Smith and STAARS are grateful to Scott and Julianna for their time, insight and candor.

This week, we're spotlighting Simone Goligorsky. When asked how diversity enhances her practice, Simone responded, "I find it to be a conversation starter: I'm often asked 'where is your surname from', and that immediately leads to a dialogue about my parents/extended family history. This has, on occasion lead to clients opening up about their own histories. The establishment of that bond at the outset makes conversations less restrained, which I have found helpful when growing meaningful client relationships." Stay tuned for more inspiring quotes and stories. Let’s celebrate the power of diversity together, so we can #AllRise. #ReedSmith #AttorneySpotlight #DiversityAndInclusion #LegalExcellence
