Today, on World Tuberculosis Day, we're reminded that TB remains one of the world's deadliest infectious diseases, despite being preventable and curable. In 2023, 10.8 million people fell ill with TB, and 1.25 million died from the disease.?Notably, nearly 90% of new TB cases occur among individuals aged 15–64—the most economically productive years of life. The rise of drug-resistant TB and barriers to timely care threaten not only public health but also workforce stability and economic growth. At the Private Sector Roundtable on Global Health Security (PSRT), we recognize that ending TB is not just a health goal—it’s a business and economic priority. Let's strengthen public-private partnerships to end TB and build resilient health systems worldwide. #WorldTBDay #EndTB #GlobalHealthSecurity #WorkforceHealth #PSRT #PublicPrivatePartnerships #HealthEquity
Investing in the fight against tuberculosis reinforces global health security. The Global Fund is the largest external source of financing for drug-resistant TB – an ever-growing global threat and a major cause of death from antimicrobial resistance worldwide – in low- and middle-income countries. Failing to invest to end TB means that the world will face an even more dire global health crisis. TB does not respect borders. The spread of TB anywhere poses huge risks for everyone, everywhere. https://lnkd.in/eJ3kp8QB
