#PPGProud to have completed another successful electrostatic spraying project applying PPG SIGMAGLIDE? 2390 fouling release coating on the Venus Wealth at Longshan Shipyard in Zhousan, China. With decades of experience in the automotive and aerospace industries, PPG is now introducing electrostatic application in shipping. Electrostatic application is an efficient and sustainable method of applying paint. The charged paint droplets are attracted to the hull surface like a magnet which not only leads to a uniform, super smooth film layer, it also results in a significant reduction in coating overspray and waste. Electrostatic application also reduces the need for masking the vessel and cleaning the dock, saving valuable time and costs. Combined with the low VOC emissions of PPG SIGMAGLIDE? 2390 coating, it offers a cleaner operation and improved work environment for applicators compared to airless spraying.
