It was energizing and uplifting to meet with 21 terrific leaders—both current and aspiring board members—at this morning's Private Directors Association?-Southern California Gather, Chat, and Connect (GCC) event in Dana Point. As you'll note in the photos, everyone was deeply engaged in meaningful conversations and relationship building—perfectly aligning with our Private Directors Association? chapter's main pillars:?Collegiality, Servant Leadership, and Paying it Forward. ?? During our roundtable, we explored key topics, including Amazon's recent announcement on a full-time return to the office for corporate staff. We discussed important questions such as: * What are the announcement's implications across industries? * How will this impact workplace culture, innovation, and real estate? ?? It was great to connect with so many accomplished executives who brought valuable insights to the discussion. I'm looking forward to the next GCC event. ?? Thank you to the five members who gathered at Vinaka Cafe on a cool fall morning for a GCC meeting! Fred Taylor, MBA, a first-time visitor to the PDA GCC, and Chris Doig arrived a little early. The conversation started with Fred sharing some interesting stories about founding a Corvette?club. Although most members have more modern cars, he enjoys driving a 1970 Corvette. Bryan Pruden shared some perspectives on how small company CEOs don't like being held accountable and how this often harms their businesses. Since small company boards were often family and friends, few people would dare to challenge the CEO. Very interesting thoughts. Becky Vincent, another first-time visitor, trained as an electrical engineer at Carnegie Mellon and runs a consulting company helping aerospace clients with engineering and business solutions. She even flies her own Cessna! Danae Brooker shared how she had finally purchased her pet food company and was working about 90 hours per week getting things shipshape. Finally, Chris shared about landing a new client in Holland that wants to replace their ERP software. A good time was enjoyed?by all.
