24" HDPE Horizontal Directional Drilling gets the job done in Plano, TX Read this article in Trenchless Technology Magazine to learn how City of Plano in North Central Texas installed nearly 1500ft of 24" #HDPE pipe with space and noise constraints and tough drilling conditions. The contractor Lovelady Directional Drilling employed noise reduction matting and barriers to minimize the disturbance to surrounding homeowners while employing state-of-the-art equipment to cut through the hard shale. Ft. Lauderdale's 17 Directional Drills with 48” and 54” #HDPE This article in Trenchless Technology Magazine discusses Ft. Lauderdale's struggle with aging sewer infrastructure and the frequent pipe failures resulting in spillage of over 211 million gallons in just a single 2 month period. The project is part of the City’s program to replace all of its decaying cast iron and ductile iron sewer pipes due to the area’s corrosive high salt water table. The solution was to use #HDPE pipe that was installed via 17 Horizontal Directional Drilling #HDD sites and under 3 rivers. The City worked with Hazen and Sawyer (owner’s representative) and with the 2 MAB contractor members Murphy Pipeline Contractors and DAVID MANCINI & SONS, INC. to build this 7.5-mile force main.
