A couple of days ago I wrote there seems to be no end in sight to the uses of LiDAR. Another technology that has a seemingly endless number of uses is hyperspectral imaging a technique that captures and analyzes information across the electromagnetic spectrum to create detailed images. Hyperspectral imaging is used to monitor the environment and keep tabs on food quality, by the life sciences and defense industries, and in niche areas like art analysis. It is also being used in Mexico the help search for the over 116,000 people who have been reported missing. https://lnkd.in/ewJKdv_y

We've written about LiDAR a bunch of times but no matter how many times you think there's nothing left to be said about the technology something cool happens. A recent study by McGill University's Pedro Guillermo Ramon Celis has uncovered the full scale of Guiengola, a vast 15th-century Zapotec city in Oaxaca, Mexico, hidden beneath dense vegetation for centuries. “It’s like a city frozen in time before any of the deep cultural transformations brought by the Spanish arrival had taken place,” Ramon Celis says. And, thanks to LiDAR, the entire 360-hectare site has been mapped. https://lnkd.in/eBGp7g2B
