Meet our alum, Frank! ? Growing up in St. Louis, Frank faced financial struggles as his single mother, a first-generation Vietnamese immigrant, worked to support their family. He took on jobs during high school to help out, but despite being accepted into college, Frank couldn't finish due to financial pressures. After years working in fine dining as a sommelier, the pandemic pushed him to pursue his passion for IT, specifically cybersecurity. But without a degree or connections in tech, he didn’t know where to start. That’s when he found Per Scholas St. Louis. Through no-cost training, Frank gained hands-on skills, filled in knowledge gaps, and received the support he needed to succeed. His hard work paid off—he graduated as Salutatorian, earned the Core Values Award, and now works as a Penetration Tester, doubling his pre-training salary! Frank’s life has changed dramatically, and he credits Per Scholas for giving him the tools to thrive. A heartfelt thank you to Family and Workforce Centers of America for including us in their Success Sequence Forum last Friday, part of the Ready for Life Program. This event provided young adults with valuable insights into the opportunities available in the Saint Louis area, including those offered by Per Scholas Saint Louis. The forum featured engaging workshops, exciting prizes, and a special appearance by American actor Carol Anthony Payne II, known for his memorable roles as Cole Brown on the Fox sitcom Martin and Walter "Cockroach" Bradley on the NBC sitcom The Cosby Show. We also extend our gratitude to Steve Martak, Senior Director of Talent Solutions, and Jade Johnson, Senior Manager of Recruitment and Admissions, for their invaluable participation in the event.

We were thrilled to take part in the 2024 Fiesta Cardenales "Post-Game" Latin Concert at Saint Louis Ballpark Village this weekend! It provided a wonderful opportunity to connect with other participating organizations and engage with the enthusiastic crowd. It was also a fantastic day for a Cardinals game. Meet Ben, a Per Scholas St. Louis alum! After obtaining his GED at 17, Ben sought a way into the tech field but found positions required certifications and hands-on experience. Discovering Per Scholas, he took the leap and never looked back. With passionate instructors and supportive classmates, Ben thrived, earning his CompTIA A+ certification. He landed a Tier 2 Field Technician role at NCR Atleos just a week after graduating. Now, he's focused on upskilling and aiming for his CCNA certification. Ben's story shows that with determination and the right training, anything is possible.
