?? We have had an amazing experience at #PODD2024! ? It started with a great kick-off with the keynote of Dr. Robert Langer from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, followed by Genentech/Roche’s industry overview and lots of interesting panels on drug delivery and formulation trends, innovations technologies, and networking! After, we continued the event with a talk by Alba Córdoba Insensé, on "Nanomedicine Development and Manufacturing with DELOS Nanovesicle Technology". It was an honor to showcase our DELOS nanoparticle technology with such an excellent audience. During these two days, we had the opportunity to connect with numerous potential partners, discussing how our solutions can transform drug delivery. ?? I thoroughly enjoyed the PODD conference last week in Boston. It was fun to be there with Fearsome’s MedTech maestro, Niall Slater, and to investigate the many innovations in novel drug delivery technologies. The new therapy types, volumes, and viscosities coming to market from the pharmaceutical industry are driving the many advances in drug delivery methods (oral, injectable, transdermal, and beyond) improving patient compliance, bioavailability, and therapeutic efficacy. It is always a great conference for in-depth discussions with leaders in the industry about cutting-edge drug delivery technologies. It was great to see and hear the strong emphasis on improving patient experiences with each new drug delivery solution, which is increasingly important as the industry moves toward more personalized and patient-friendly therapies. Thanks to Courtney Nicholas Sutton, Douglas Bryans, and Joan Mele Vidal for joining me on stage at PODD this week to discuss the industrialization of Dual Chamber Syringe and Fill Finish capabilities: a pharma manufacturer, a drug delivery system supplier, a fill finish service provider, and an equipment manufacturer all on the stage together vested in addressing the needs of the industry and our patients. Reflecting on PODD conference, here are my three key takeaways: 1.???As Kurt Sedo of Pharmacircle noted in his hugely enjoyable, breathless review of the pharma R&D world over the past year, injectables continue to race ahead of other routes of administration, and last year overtook oral dose forms in terms of new molecules. And this isn’t all GLP-1! 2.???While the clinical diagnostics industry has had a difficult time since the investment boom triggered by the pandemic, it seems that the acceleration in mRNA and lipid nanoparticle (LNP) technology brought about by the warp speed approvals of vaccines has triggered a huge number of biotech developments. Some fascinating presentations on curative therapies, CRISPR and ex-liver delivery to name just a few topics. 3.???As ever, the payer perspective delivered a bit of a reality check. One of the speakers noted that science has significantly outpaced the ability of healthcare systems to pay for its innovations in recent years. All the more important then to think about new therapies as products, and ensure that realistic appraisals of the requirements for market access are built into R&D processes, TPPs etc. Finally, it was genuinely great to reconnect with friends and clients, and to spend time working with my excellent new colleague Matt Jones, who was also at the conference. It was an incredible experience co-chairing this year's Partnership Opportunities in Drug Delivery (PODD) Conference with Sherri Biondi and Clare Beddoes. A huge thank you to Andrew Goldstein and Valerie Bowling for all your support and for hosting such a successful event. I'm excited to continue the conversations and explore potential collaborations sparked by PODD 2024!

A fantastic two days of partnering, business development and drug delivery science! It was an absolute pleasure being back at PODD: Partnership Opportunities in Drug Delivery Community News in Boston earlier this week to participate in an agenda that was jam-packed with all-the-best when it comes to drug delivery. Hugely appreciative to have had the opportunity to present at the “Pharma Company Spotlights” session where I shared Novo Nordisk’s partnering philosophy and those areas of interest where we’re eager to engage with partners with complementary expertise to develop innovative solutions that address unmet medical needs and serve more patients. Also greatly enjoyed moderating a session on "Sustained Release Innovations to Reduce Patient Burden". Together with panellists Adam Mendelsohn, Manish Gupta and Bin Wu, we touched upon considerations around patient centricity, the value proposition of infrequent administration and the perspective of payers, the need for more and better in vitro predictive tools to guide formulation development and reflections around how we can scale and manufacture to serve patients. Last October 28th, I had the opportunity to attend the PODD: Partnership Opportunities in Drug Delivery Community News conference in Boston. It was a pleasure to hear spotlights from major pharma companies like Novo Nordisk, Boehringer Ingelheim, Pfizer and Sanofi. The event provided me helpful and valuable insights into the latest advancements in drug delivery systems and was a fantastic opportunity to connect with industry professionals.
