Congratulations to the OW Ocean Winds UK team on achieving a major milestone: the 60th and final turbine has been installed at OW Ocean Winds’ Moray West project in Scotland! ?? ? ? The 882 MW project is on track to be fully operational in 2025, making OW the largest #offshorewind operator in Scotland ? The project used subsea export cables manufactured by Nexans at its U.S. plant in South Carolina, which was the first facility of its kind in the U.S.! ? Each turbine can reach up to 14.7 MW of output, making them the largest in Europe ? The project has already created over 1,500 FTE years in Scotland during construction ? Blade production alone has doubled the size of the Siemens Gamesa Hull production facility, creating 1,000+ local jobs ? As Project Director Pete Geddes said: “Moray West really has ‘set the bar high’ in terms of both technological innovation and rock-solid project execution.” ? Congratulations again to the team on this success as we continue driving forward the #cleanenergytransition. ?? ? POWERING THE CLEAN ENERGY TRANSITION
关于我们
Ocean Winds (OW) is an international company dedicated to offshore wind energy and created as a 50-50 joint venture by EDP Renewables and ENGIE. Based on our belief that offshore wind energy is an essential part of the global energy transition, we develop, finance, build, and operate offshore wind projects all around the world. When EDPR and ENGIE combined their offshore wind assets and project pipeline to create OW in 2019, the company had a total of 1.5 GW under construction and 4 GW under development. OW has been adding rapidly to that portfolio and is now on a trajectory to reach our 2025 target of 5-7 GW of projects in operation or construction and 5-10 GW under advanced development. OW’s offshore wind gross capacity already operating, in construction, or with advanced development rights granted is currently 18.6 GW. Ocean Winds North America (OW NA) is headquartered in Boston, MA, and has about 7 GW of projects under development in the U.S.: 1) SouthCoast Wind – a bottom-fixed project that will be located off the New England coast with the potential to generate 2.4 GW of clean energy 2) Bluepoint Wind – a bottom-fixed project that will be located off the New Jersey and New York coasts with the potential to generate 2.4 GW of clean energy 3) Golden State Wind – a floating project that will be located off the central California coast with the potential to generate 2 GW of clean energy

On Veterans Day, OW Ocean Winds NORTH AMERICA and our team honor all of the U.S. military veterans who have served our country. We recognize their courage and commitment, and we are deeply grateful for their service. We also recognize that veterans play a critical role in the domestic clean energy economy, which will help protect our national security and create economic growth across the country. According to the American Clean Power Association (ACP), more than 42,000 veterans work in the U.S. wind and solar industries, and the clean energy sector employs veterans at a higher rate than the national average. We are so proud to have many veterans on our OW NA team and thankful for the experience and dedication they bring each day as we work towards building a clean energy future for all. ?#ProudtobeOW #VeteransDay #CleanEnergy #OffshoreWind

Big thanks to Michael Brown of OW Ocean Winds for joining me on the #ACPOffshore24 Powercast stage to reflect on the state of the industry and his leadership of ACP Offshore Wind Council. Michael’s commitment to this industry is unparalleled and he has led ACP’s policy council with passion, strategy, and a healthy dose of Scottish humor.

Happy #NationalMarineSanctuaryDay! ?? For over 50 years, the U.S. National Marine Sanctuary System – made up of 16 national marine sanctuaries and 2 marine national monuments – has safeguarded species and critical habitats, supported scientific research, and protected our nation’s marine cultural heritage. ? ?? The Chumash Heritage National Marine Sanctuary is particularly meaningful for our Golden State Wind project in Central California. This marine sanctuary thoughtfully balances marine conservation, protection of cultural resources, and #cleanenergy to address the impacts of climate change. We respectfully acknowledge the efforts of Tribes, Indigenous Peoples, and federal, state, and local officials to advance the Chumash Heritage National Marine Sanctuary.? ? ?? Our Bluepoint Wind project is located northwest of the Hudson Canyon, which is the largest submarine canyon along the Atlantic coast and has been proposed as a future National Marine Sanctuary. Bluepoint Wind has joined the Hudson Canyon Sanctuary Advisory Council, and the scientific studies and monitoring conducted within the project lease area will contribute to better understanding the region’s complex ecosystem.? ? At OW Ocean Winds NORTH AMERICA, we recognize the environmental and cultural significance of the current and proposed marine sanctuaries and we look forward to continuing to work together to combat #climatechange and preserve our natural resources. ?? ? ?? Happy Climate Week! ?? Check out the great article below by John Dempsey, CEO of our Bluepoint Wind project, which highlights the importance of #offshorewind and addresses misinformation about the industry ??
I've been going to the Jersey Shore for decades, and?I recognize that my industry is a divisive topic down there. For climate week, I decided to write an op-ed to try and dispel some of the myths being told about offshore wind. ? I come at this from a position of empathy, as I think it is very hard for folks at the shore to figure out the truth amidst an onslaught of misinformation.? ? One fact that folks at the shore know all too well is that because of rising seas, every Nor'easter has the potential to decimate these sensitive barrier islands.?Is OSW the only solution here??Probably not, but it is a great start.? Our industry has the ability to generate carbon-free electricity, at scale, by harnessing a resource that costs nothing and blows 24/7, 365 days a year. For Climate Week, let's continue to get the truth out about our industry, and why it's so important that we are successful. https://lnkd.in/gpTTu7Ms
