What game are you playing, and how are you winning? What’s your unique edge in achieving company goals? How is your business transformation driving new business models, innovation, and customer experience?
These were just a few of the thought-provoking questions tackled at OPEX Week: Business Transformation World Summit, where I was a speaker last week and where hundreds of leaders from around the world gathered to share insights, exchange ideas, and learn from one another.
Here are some of my key takeaways:
? Transformation isn’t a one-time event—it’s a continuous process. Leaders must regularly assess complexity across business models, operations, and people, all while keeping an external lens.
? Momentum follows ownership. A clear North Star is critical; real change requires a growth mindset and discipline. The earlier leaders engage their teams, the higher the chances of success in transformation as people are making the difference.
? Innovation is about differentiation. The best breakthroughs solve customer pain points or introduce something truly new (e.g. like how robotic food delivery is scaling rapidly in the U.S.)
? AI is here to stay. Agentic AI is emerging, meaning AI systems will increasingly understand who we are and what we need, helping to create seamless experiences. But one thing is clear-we don’t want AI making all the decisions.
? Lessons from an Olympian. Regan Smith, 22-year-old — gold medalist and world record holder, reminded us that success comes from showing up for yourself every day, staying humble yet confident, and doing the work—not for validation from others, but for your own growth.
And, of course, reconnecting with familiar faces like Carolyn Lum (great hosting of the event) and Cathy Gu (successfully leading the entire #OPEXWeek), along with meeting new leaders, was a highlight.
