During the latest quarterly all hands meeting, OICC Florence employees learned about the mission of Naval Medical Center Camp Lejeune’s Health Promotion and Wellness Program. Ms. Marie McClellan and Ms. Lisa Conway introduced information about classes offered through the clinic. One of the main featured programs during the presentation was the Diabetes Prevention Program. Lead by McClellan, a Certified Lifestyle and Diabetes Prevention Coach and Certified Personal Trainer, Certified Nutrition Coach, and a Weight Loss Specialist with the National Academy of Sports Medicine, the Diabetes Prevention Program offers an integrated approach. McClellan combines hands on applications, such as cooking and fitness classes, in addition to counseling and education, to instill healthy lifestyle behaviors. The program earned its recognition from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2023. Tobacco cessation, stress and sleep management, heart health and chronic disease prevention, maternal health, including Lamaze and early pregnancy education, are some of the other classes available. Thank you to Ms. Marie McClellan and Ms. Lisa Conway, for being our guests’ speakers. We appreciate your time.
