The City of South Bend’s Office of Innovation was established at the end of 2014 as a centralized location for data analytics, process improvement and technology optimization. This effort grew out of a data-oriented process optimization program modeled after the success of Baltimore’s CitiStat1 in the early 2000s. While working as a dynamic unit, the Mayor’s Office of Innovation has organized around three central objectives: Analytics & Performance Management, Innovation Delivery, and Strategic Partnerships:
