?? UPDATE: Despite the distractions of the back-and-forth between the Trump Administration and Hochul Administration, our fight for a commonsense exemption for New York-based food distributors from #NYC #congestionpricing continues, and momentum is building. ?? The data confirms what we knewpassenger cars make up 85% of tolls, while essential food distributors are being unfairly burdened with new costs that risk driving up food prices for restaurants, grocery stores, and hunger relief organizations. ?? In order to win this fight, we are actively looking for additional corporate sponsors to help us expand our advocacy, mobilize stakeholders, and ensure policymakers take action. ? If your company cares about protecting NYCs food supply, supporting essential food businesses and food banks, and keeping healthy food affordable and accessible, now is the time to step up. Join us as a corporate sponsor today and help us protect NYCs food supply! ?? Today the NYC Food Distribution Alliance submitted testimony for the record in New York for the Joint Legislative Hearing on the Transportation Portions of the Executive Proposed Budget for FY25-26. As we point out in the testimony, the Senate and Assembly have a critical opportunityand responsibilityto address the unintended consequences of #NYC #CongestionPricing. Without action, this policy will increase #foodprices for everyday New Yorkers, strain #hunger relief efforts, and disrupt the citys #foodindustry, which depends on a robust local distribution network. This year's budget must reflect that food distribution is not optionalit is critical infrastructure. ? Read more here ?? or here ?? https://lnkd.in/eV-ybYWs

Restaurants and the hospitality industry are on the front lines of the unintended impacts of #NYC #CongestionPricing. Thank you Andrew Rigie for lending your voice to this important issue! We fully support public transportationits how most restaurant workers and customers get to our businesses," said Andrew Rigie, Executive Director of the NYC Hospitality Alliance. "But if congestion pricing is in effect, there should be an exemption for essential deliveries that must enter the zone by vehicle. Seafood suppliers cant take the subway, so they and countless other suppliers often must pass the fee on to small businesses, making it even more expensive to run a restaurant in Manhattan, and more expensive for people to dine out. Read the full press release here: https://lnkd.in/eRKZPP-U For more information about the coalition and its priorities, please visit: https://lnkd.in/egpsUVmj #Restaurants #Hospitality #NYCrestaurants #NYCfoodindustry #MTA #ProtectNYCFood

Quote from Leslie G., President & CEO of Food Bank For New York City, in today's press release announcing the formation of the NYC Food Distribution Alliance to address the unintended impacts of NYC Congestion Pricing: ? At the end of the day, Food Bank For NYC is here to feed people and empower every New Yorker to achieve food security for good. Every dollar we save on operations is another dollar we can use to help our neighbors thrive. Were hopeful that as this policy moves forward, our City leaders will consider how this impacts nonprofits like ours and work with us to find solutions so we can continue to focus our resources where theyre needed most on the people we serve. Read the full press release here: https://lnkd.in/eRKZPP-U For more information about the coalition and its priorities, please visit: https://lnkd.in/egpsUVmj #HungerRelief #fooddistribution #NYC #congestionpricing #MTA

Quote from Tom Colicchio, Chef & Owner of Crafted Hospitality, in today's press release announcing the formation of the NYC Food Distribution Alliance: "Every restaurant, food bank, hospital, school, grocery store, and bodega in Manhattan depends on truck deliveries for their survival. While I support the goals of reducing traffic congestion and improving air quality in Manhattan, it shouldnt come at a cost to our citys renowned independent restaurants or hamper New York Citys well-established goals around hunger relief and curbing diet-related disease. Making sure there are commonsense exemptions for essential food service distributors based within the five boroughs and who already pay for the MTA just makes sense. Read the full press release here: https://lnkd.in/eRKZPP-U For more information and to join the coalition, visit: https://lnkd.in/egpsUVmj #IndependentRestaurants #foodprices #HungerRelief #produceprescriptions #fooddistribution #fooddistributors #NYCrestaurants #smallbusiness #NYC #congestionpricing #MTA

?? PRESS ANNOUNCEMENT ?? One month after New York Citys Congestion Pricing program went into effect, leading New York food distributors, wholesalers, food banks, restaurants and allied organizations and businesses are announcing the formation of the NYC Food Distribution Alliance to raise awareness about the policys unintended consequences on food prices, and advocate for targeted relief for food businesses. The Alliance, a coalition representing more than 200 food businesses and organizations, includes major industry leaders such as The Chefs' Warehouse, Fulton Fish Market Cooperative, LP Seafood & Specialty (Formerly Lobster Place Wholesale Seafood), Food Bank For New York City, Baldor Specialty Foods, Inc., NYC Hospitality Alliance, Acme Smoked Fish Corp, New York Common Pantry, Wellness in the Schools, Katzman, Master Purveyors Inc., Great Performances, among many others. Over the coming weeks and months, the NYC Food Distribution Alliance will be calling attention to the severe strain congestion pricing is placing on New York Citys food supply chain and urging policymakers to exempt essential food distributors based within the five boroughs. The NYC Food Distribution Alliance was established as a critical reminder that food distribution is essential infrastructure, just like utilities and public transit. Without an exemption, the affordability and accessibility of food in New York City will suffer, said Colin O'Neil, Executive Director of the NYC Food Distribution Alliance.
