NV5's Clean Energy group recently completed a potential study to support Vermont’s Clean Heat Standard legislation. This study included the assessment and quantification of technical, economic, and maximum achievable potential for reducing emissions from fossil fuel consumption in Vermont’s residential, commercial, and industrial buildings through the installation of eligible “clean heat” measures including potential contributions from biofuels and renewable fuels pathways. The study considered scenarios to meet legislative greenhouse gas reductions targets as well as the quantification of grid emission impacts. The project included substantial stakeholder involvement with the VT Agency of Natural Resources, VT Public Utilities Commission and the Clean Heat Standard Technical Advisory Group as well as various public advocacy organizations.
