Real-World Impact: The MSES Project Practicum Northwestern Master of Science in Energy & Sustainability (MSES) students don’t complete a traditional master’s thesis. Instead, they engage in a Project Practicum—a 10-week, team-based consulting project where they solve pressing sustainability problems for corporate, nonprofit, or municipal clients. This hands-on experience allows students to apply the knowledge and skills gained in the program to solve real-world sustainability challenges, building both expertise and professional connections before graduation. We are commonly asked whether we offer our program online. Northwestern Master of Science in Energy & Sustainability (MSES) is a full-time, in-person program. Because all of our students are on campus, they learn from their peers in addition to their instructors. MSES students often form lasting personal and professional bonds during their time in the program.
