Northern Health Futures (NortHFutures) Hub are looking for representatives from Cumbria to participate in upcoming focus groups on digital skills and training needs. NHS IT and digital staff - 28th March, online Nurses - 28th April, Newcastle Pharmacists - 30th April, Newcastle Allied health professionals - 1st May, Durham Doctors in secondary and tertiary facilities - 7th May, Newcastle GPs - 8th May, Durham This is a three-hour, workshop-style focus group centred on digital maturity, available digital skills training, and both immediate and anticipated future needs. We've had a great morning in our panel and workshop sessions!?? We kicked off with the Northern Health Futures (NortHFutures) Hub Digital Health Challenge, exploring how the North East is driving digital health innovation through collaboration with universities and the health ecosystem, creating exciting opportunities for SMEs and startups. ???? Next, the Ecosystem Panel with experts from Innovate UK, Northumbria University, CPI and Department for Science, Innovation and Technology dove into how the UK innovation ecosystem can support SMEs through funding and partnerships. ???? Next, we attended the Demystifying Due Diligence panel, where experts shared valuable advice on what investors seek and how entrepreneurs can better prepare for securing investment. ???? A sunny March morning for the VentureFest event by Innovation SuperNetwork - powered by UMi and hosted at Newcastle Civic Centre. A great opportunity to hear about some of the innovative work and projects being undertaken across the region. Nicki Clark OBE set the scene opening the event with an official welcome talk followed by Professor Richard Harding who covered a wealth of topics around scaling up for businesses, and the ethical applications of AI. Mid morning, an opportunity to peruse the many showcase stands, before Dr Charlotte Hope, Jennifer Wood and Professor Vikki Rand launched the breakout session on the Northern Health Futures (NortHFutures) Hub Digital Health Challenge. My Northumbria University colleague Alan Godfrey opened the talk highlighting wearable tech and the ability for digital technologies to provide medical assessment in the lived environment. Durham University showcased the concept of transforming eye care with AI before James Woltmann closed the talk raising the exciting and innovative "health innovation neighbourhood". Great to meet Ian Appleby, Trudy Carruthers and Christopher Wood. Hope to be able to progress conversations with you. And good to catch up with Vince Robson, Emma Batey and Robyn Liddle. Back to the office now, but with a packed agenda this afternoon too, I'm sure this is going to be a great day.

?? In case you missed it! The #UKHealthDataResearchAlliance had their latest paper “Five ways to enhance the diversity and quality of health data” published in Nature Medicine recently. This paper proposes a set of key recommendations to improve how ethnicity data is collected and used in the UK and beyond: - Improve consistency and completeness in data collection - Align approaches to standardization and categorization - Build trust through transparent communication - Develop standard guidance and training for data collectors - Facilitate data linkage to enrich ethnicity information We call on decision-makers to take action and to drive the implementation and adoption of these recommended ethnicity data standards to ensure more inclusive and equitable healthcare for all.
