On Friday, October 25th, 2024, Western & Southern Financial Group proudly welcomed 40 Northern Kentucky University students to its Cincinnati Home Office! This event was a milestone as the first student tour hosted by W&S at the collegiate level.
This student visit provided attendees with an insightful experience into W&S’s diverse business units and career opportunities across the company and its subsidiaries. Organizing this event was a rewarding project I worked on throughout my internship with W&S, granting me exposure to various departments, companies, and individuals I may not have interacted with otherwise.
I want to extend thanks to Justin Stewart, JD, CFE for his invaluable support in encouraging me to take this on, as this was not a typical project for an intern. Justin and my other managers, Lindsay M. Connelly, CTP, and Jason Nickles, CPA's ongoing guidance and support throughout the entire process was essential to the success of this project.
I am deeply grateful to the W&S team members who contributed to planning and executing this event. Their support was invaluable, and I especially want to thank Scott Dinius from Eagle Realty Group, with whom I worked closely to iron out the details and finalize the schedule. Special thanks as well to Alyssa Black, Joshua Hurd, Carmen T., Wade Fugate, CPA, Barrett Driggett, Thomas Lukey, CPA, Tiffany H., Allison Gosney, Amy Ramsey, MA LPC, Eric J. Knapp, Morgan Peters, CPA, and Gage Schultz.
Each of them generously shared their experiences and a wealth of knowledge from their respective business units, giving students a firsthand look at the dynamic opportunities within W&S.
I would also like to extend my gratitude to the NKU Haile College of Business, whose support was instrumental in making this event a success. It was particularly exciting to collaborate with three student organizations that I am involved in on campus: NKU Center for Economic Education, NKU Beta Gamma Sigma, and FASA.
Thank you to Colton Scalf, Ryan Goss, Kelsey Boone, Kylie Koeninger, and Kyah Martin for your partnership and dedication throughout the planning and execution of this event. Your efforts truly made a difference in creating a meaningful experience for the students.
This experience has been incredibly rewarding, and I am grateful for everyone who helped make it possible. Bringing NKU students to W&S for the first time at this scale was a unique opportunity, and I am proud to have played a part in creating a meaningful experience for future business leaders.
