As we wrap up the year, I’m honored to serve as a mentor to Paige Loague?in the?#NextGemFemme????Mentorship Program alongside so many incredible women! I'm grateful to the amazing women behind Femme It Forward such as Evangeline Elder & Heather Lowery who created this org to empower the next generation of women in music, technology & entertainment to lead with boldness & courage. When I reflect on my marketing career, I didn't officially have a mentor, but God placed some incredible women in my life who have become mentors, sisters , colleagues & friends who I have had the opportunity to genuinely connect with, build with & learn from such as Shaherra M. Rolen, MBA Michelle Breyer Camille Wright Danielle Beckford & many others. Their leadership & sisterhood has given me the guidance & support I've needed along my journey & for that I'm grateful. I hope to share my knowledge & experiences with the next generation of women to prepare them as they conquer their goals & dreams. My advice to young women starting out is to lead with intention & authenticity, communicate effectively, work with diligence, embrace change & create genuine connections with colleagues. . .because let's be honest it's not always about what you know, but who you know. A special moment of the night was seeing my mentor, Lou Taylor, receive the ‘Mentorship Inspiration’ award. Her unwavering commitment to uplifting future leaders through the Next Gen Femme Mentor Program has been inspirational to see, and I’m grateful for her guidance on my own personal journey thus far. It is truly one my greatest honors to serve as the South East Chapter President of Next Gem Femme , Femme It Forward. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity because it has always been my passion to pay it forward and give back to the next generation of women. Special thanks to my beautiful mentor Ingrid Best for her warm spirit and insight over the year. Her journey continues to inspire me. In this role, I strive to lead and empower the South East Chapter by providing a safe space, community, resources, and professional development that develops each gem holistically. Special thank you to the vision and support of Heather Lowery, Victoria Marfan, Angeula M. and the entire FIF Team. I also want to share and thank you beautiful executive board who have shown nothing but kindness, patience, energy, and innovation since we've been bonded together: Sam S., Kirsten Ford, Ashleigh Seegars, and Aliza Edoo. I’m excited to share that I will be serving as the Secretary for Femme It Forward’s Next Gem Femme California Chapter this year! Since 2021, I have had the privilege of being mentored by Ebonie Ward through the Next Gem Femme Mentorship Program, founded by my Spelman sister, Heather Lowery. Ebonie has been a guiding force in my career, and I’m grateful for the chance to continue learning from her. Thank you to Heather, Femme It Forward, and Ebonie for their impactful support—I look forward to making a meaningful contribution! I look forward to serving on the California Chapter board, supporting Femme It Forward’s mission of empowering women of color in the entertainment and creative industries. The program aims to create workplace equity and open career pathways for young women by pairing them with leaders in music, media, entertainment, and technology for nine months of transformative one-on-one mentorship. Happy to share that I’ve taken on the role of Chapter President of Femme It Forward's Next Gem Femme North East Chapter! When I began my journey as an NGF mentee, my goal was to learn more and network more within the music industry. What I received was an amazing mentor in Shavonne L. Dargan, who helped me navigate a lot, at a time when my life and career were in need of some serious GUIDANCE. And a large community of like-minded women looking to learn and grow within their respective careers, many I now call friends. As Chapter President my goal is to simply pay it forward. My hope is to amplify this community at scale, paving the way for more access, more resources, and most importantly, creating more opportunities to build genuine relationships and support within this crazy media and entertainment space. To the entire Femme It Forward team, Heather Lowery, Angeula M.…Thank You. And to my amazing, fearless, and beyond-supportive ladies of NGF NE; Imani Dickens, M.S., Nicolette Mathis, Shantel Teixeira, Jasmine Tucker, the journey has just begun and I’m beyond blessed that you all have “willingly” joined me for the ride.
