The New England Women in Construction Conference is seeking speakers for our 2025 event! New England Women in Construction is an annual conference, held annually in September, to bring together local women in construction. Many women work on all-male teams, and don’t have the opportunity to connect with other women in construction. NEWIC sessions are very interactive, and allow women in construction to share their stories, experiences, and advice with each other. If you are interested in speaking at NEWIC, please fill out this form: https://lnkd.in/eSbTAxVd

Do women even want men in construction anymore? ABSOLUTELY YES!! In the last few years, social media posts, conference agendas, and gender diversity training, INCLUDING MY OWN, have focused on the challenges women face and the desire to recruit, advance, and retain more women in the construction industry. I have to imagine that at times men in the industry begin to feel unappreciated or worse that they are being labeled as “the problem”.?The reality is; Some men are creating problems…and others are creating solutions. Many men are mentors, advocates, sponsors…and some are adversaries, doubters, and naysayers. And to speak total truth…Women are all of the above as well. To the men who have supported me in my career, and to those that have leaned in to better understand the gender specific challenges I have faced, I want to say THANK YOU! WIC – I would love for you to take the time to tag or mention a man in construction that has supported you and your career. This article by Construction Wave explains the results of a new study on why recruiting and retaining women in the construction industry is so difficult. “The insight gained from this study suggest that the industry still doesn’t seem to fully understand how to make the most of women’s talents and potential."
