From the Billington CyberSecurity Summit: Cherilyn Pascoe, director of the National Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (NCCoE), spoke with our team about how the center’s collaboration with industry and government is translating cyber standards into practice. Pascoe emphasized the role of the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST)'s Cybersecurity Framework 2.0 and the importance of migrating to post-quantum cryptography to safeguard IT systems and critical infrastructure from evolving threats. Let’s hear it for the interns! ?? Recently at the NCCoE, our interns presented the work they’ve accomplished this summer in front of the center. From AI/ML and email security to outreach and engagement, our interns tackled challenging projects, contributed fresh perspectives, and grew their skills in ways that will serve them well in their future careers.?? ? We now say a fond farewell as they return to school. Hope to see them again soon!? ? #cybersecurity #internship #futureleaders? ? ICYMI - The NCCoE’s Zero Trust team recently released NIST SP 1800-35: Implementing a Zero Trust Architecture. As an enterprise’s data and resources have become distributed across the on-premises environment and multiple clouds, protecting them has become increasingly challenging. Many users need access from anywhere, at any time, from any device.?? ? The NCCoE is addressing these challenges by collaborating with industry participants to demonstrate several sample implementations of zero trust architecture?applied to a conventional, general-purpose enterprise IT infrastructure?on-premises and in the cloud.?? ? Teachers drive the success of cybersecurity, inspiring the next generation to secure their future. With this in mind, the NCCoE recently invited a group of middle school teachers to tour the labs, learn about our Student Programs, and participate in a cybersecurity themed escape room with the NICE program to demonstrate basic cybersecurity principles.? ?? We hope they will return to their schools with a desire to help their students pursue their passion for cybersecurity in the future.

5G technology for broadband cellular networks will significantly improve how humans and machines communicate, operate, and interact in the physical and virtual world. 5G provides increased bandwidth and capacity, and low latency. However, professionals in fields like technology, cybersecurity, and privacy are faced with safeguarding this technology while its development, deployment, and usage are still evolving.? To support this effort, the NCCoE has launched the “Applying 5G Cybersecurity and Privacy Capabilities” white paper series. Click on the link below to review the first two white papers included in the series: (1) Applying 5G Cybersecurity and Privacy Capabilities—Introduction to the White Paper Series and (2) Protecting Subscriber Identifiers with Subscription Concealed Identifier (SUCI).? We encourage you to review these two draft publications and submit comments by September 16, 2024: https://lnkd.in/e79Rhxk2 (Image: Shutterstock)?
