Just wrapped up my second Raleigh Residency at North Carolina State University! ??? This residency challenged me to rethink how change is managed within organizations and how we, as leaders, communicate change effectively. One key takeaway was the importance of explaining why a change is happening alongside the what. It’s not just about leading through change—it’s about helping others understand the reasons behind it, addressing their concerns, and managing the energy around it to prevent fatigue. A leader must communicate, create momentum, and help others visualize the transformation. A highlight of this residency was working with a team on an in-depth analysis of the Black Lives Matter organization, exploring its culture using the frameworks and models we studied in class. We analyzed the organization’s structure, leadership shifts, strategic direction, and global impact using the GLOBE Study Extensions. It was a great opportunity to apply theory to practice. The best part, as always, was networking with my peers. Being in an online program, connecting in person with like-minded professionals is invaluable. I’m looking forward to applying these lessons in the real world, especially as I step into my upcoming practicum. This week, I joined over 70 aspiring MBA candidates for three days of networking and instruction at North Carolina State in Raleigh. I was caught off guard by how bittersweet the moment was. While I will have to wait a year to graduate, I am 90% complete with the program. My time with NC State is growing short, and I have come to find a new love for the campus and the school.
