? Reaching for the STARS! ? ??Our STARS project will be boosting network resilience in even more locations across our distribution network this year. #Innovation #DNO #Engineering
Responding even faster to power cuts—that’s the goal of our STARS project. Using smart devices and machine learning, we can react to faults quicker by monitoring voltage and current changes. This helps us find and fix issues faster, whether it’s equipment wear, weather damage, or even trees interfering with infrastructure. With plans to expand STARS to 19 more sites this year, we’re making our network more resilient than ever. ???Trees interfering with infrastructure. ?? We've launched the latest phase of our Community Matters Fund to help address the UK's widening skills gap. ?? The £250,000 Future Skills fund is open to charities, non-profit companies and community organisations that do at least one of the following: ? Offer placements, work experience, and professional accreditation programmes ? Develop key professional skills to help people into skilled trade roles such as construction, mechanics, plumbing, electrical work, agriculture, health and social care ? Boost employability, eg through CV masterclasses, workshops and interview coaching ? Support people returning to work after a long absence, for example, due to chronic health conditions, full time caring roles or military service. ?? The UK faces a significant shortage of skilled tradespeople to meet its ambitions for net zero and house building, as well as across other industries - so these issues present a critical opportunity to tackle the skills gap and provide pathways to stable, sustainable employment.
