Happy #ManuscriptMonday! Our team's newest journal article shares evaluation findings from four local health departments funded by NACCHO to implement the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommended test of cure (TOC) for pharyngeal gonorrhea. The evaluation assessed the yield and feasibility of implementing TOC in clinical #PublicHealth practice. Overall, the local health departments perceived TOC to be feasible but resource intensive. Low return rates, limited culture collection, and limited culture yield highlight challenges to determining the cause of a positive TOC and the limitations of TOC in identifying cephalosporin resistance. Facilitators to successfully implementing TOC included: ? Conducting TOC at least 10 days post-treatment to decrease the chance of false positive tests; ? Proactively building leadership and clinical team buy-in to integrate TOC into existing workflows; and, ? Offering in-person clinic testing methods and incorporating patient education into the TOC visits to improve the rate of test return.

Our latest article in JPHMP Direct takes a deep dive into the new #NACCHOProfileDash, our powerful new interactive platform showcasing results from the #NACCHOProfileStudy. The article describes our discovery process for developing the dashboard, as well as how various user groups can use its unique features to inform their work. National organizations can make sense of study findings with the data stories that contextualize the numbers within the broader #PublicHealth landscape. Federal agencies can use the key findings–which synthesize the complex data into high-level takeaways–to get an at-a-glance view of local health department capacity trends. And state and local leaders can cross tabulate and filter the data to map strengths and gaps to specific subsets of local health department populations.
