  • Investing in Growth: A Powerful Retreat Experience What happens when you step away from the day-to-day grind and invest in your own growth? Transformation. Last week, we had the privilege of running a two-day professional and personal development retreat for Supply Chain, led by our colleagues Georgiana I. Holder and Mark Momplaisir, MS I/OP—and what an experience it was! Supply chain teams keep patient care running smoothly, making sure the right supplies get to the right people at the right time. We covered topics that challenge, inspire, and ignite change, including: ·????????Commitment to Service Excellence ·????????Growth vs. Fixed Mindset ·????????Emotional Intelligence ·????????Managing Challenging Interactions ·????????Empowering Through Self-Ownership ·????????Your Growth Action Plan At first, there was hesitation—nervousness about what to expect. But by the end of day one, something shifted. Barriers came down. Stories were shared. Laughter, reflection, and even a few tears filled the room. The impact? Participants walked away energized, connected, and ready to take ownership of their growth. A huge shoutout to this incredible group for showing up, leaning in, and making this retreat so powerful, and to our colleagues at STRIVE, Joelle James and Ayesha George, for their wonderful partnership: ?? • Leading from Within: The Work Most Leaders Skip—But Shouldn't ?? Most leaders are wired to focus on getting things done—solving problems, making decisions, and driving results. But the real game-changer? Looking inward. ?? It’s the part of leadership that often gets pushed aside in the rush to move forward. Yet, when leaders take the time to reflect, challenge their assumptions, and align their actions with their values, everything shifts. ? That’s exactly what the leaders in our fifth cohort of Leading from Within have committed to doing. Over the next several months, they’ll dig deep into their habits, thought processes, and leadership styles—not to check a box, but to grow in ways that will ripple through their teams, their work, and their lives. ?? This journey isn’t easy, but it’s powerful. ?? And we couldn’t be more excited for this group as they take on the challenge. Huge thanks to our incredible mentors— Ari Friedman, ACC , Jo Hirschmann, and Georgiana I. Holder —along with cohort 1 graduates Shivani Young and Kesha Bright, MS, AGNP-BC, OCN, who are now paying it forward as faculty members. And a big shoutout to the leaders stepping into this experience: Sue Rivera, Gaibrielle M., Chinweokwu Enekwechi, Marsha Moua, Nebojsa Dubroja, Isabel Tamarez, Nicholas Monroe, Jason Rodriguez, Anatoly (Tony) Veksler, Vanessa Palma Tejeda, Anita Ragsdale, Faranah Belgrave-McKoy, Tania Guzman, David Minsky, RDMS, RDCS, Carrie Booker-Searcy, Faith Baumann, Kayla Buonadonna, Amanda Soto. ?? Here’s to leading with greater self-awareness, intention, and authenticity. ?? The hard work starts now—and we can’t wait to see the impact. ?? • We are excited to celebrate ?? the recent graduates of New Beginnings for Leaders (NBfL)—an orientation program designed to support leaders as they step into their roles at Mount Sinai. One of the most unique aspects of this program is the recent launch of the Phone-A-Friend ?? program. Inspired by Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, this initiative pairs each new leader with an experienced peer—a trusted resource for navigating questions, challenges, and opportunities in their first months. But this program is not just about reacting to questions that arise.?Its primary purpose is to track and trend the challenges ?? new leaders face, helping us identify patterns and fix issues at the source—creating a better path for every leader who follows. This approach is guided by principles in Upstream by Dan Heath: instead of just reacting to problems as they arise, we’re also proactively solving them at their root. By listening to our new leaders, we’re not just supporting individuals—we’re aiming to improve the system. To our new leaders: Welcome! ?? We’re excited for all you’ll accomplish. Rayeann Bacchus DNP MSN-Ed, RN CCRN, Dana Nayyar, MSN,RN,OCN, Jessieven Torres, @Emma Anderson, @Regine Leandre, @Carey Hanlin And to our experienced leaders who serve as Peer Leader Support Partners: Thank you ?? for being part of this collective effort to strengthen leadership at Mount Sinai. Marisa Ognibene MBA, CPXP, Shana Dacon-Pereira, MPH, MBA, CPXP, Darren Deoraj, MHA, Cristi Knee, Valerie Orellana, R.N., M.S., Hilary Pauli, Richard Spatafora, MSN, RN, Diane Adams, @Michelle Sainte' Willis Lastly, a special shoutout to our own Alexandra G. • ?? Lights, Camera… Growth! The Power of Feedback in Training Great training isn’t just about expertise—it’s about embracing growth, even when it’s uncomfortable. Inspired by Atul Gawande’s TED Talk on the power of coaching (you can find the link in the comments), our team is leaning into feedback as a tool for improvement. Recently, we started recording our training sessions to assess what’s working and where we can refine. Our team member Alexandria S. took this a step further—she shared her own experience of reviewing her training on LinkedIn. It was vulnerable, it was real, and the response was overwhelming. Her reflection sparked conversations about the discomfort and the power of self-assessment. So, we’re following her lead—being brave and sharing how we’re growing: ?? Recording our training sessions ?? Reviewing them for clarity and impact ?? Identifying strengths and areas to improve ?? Discussing insights with peers and leaders Because feedback isn’t about pointing out flaws—it’s about unlocking potential. And the more we lean into it, the better we become. Want to get more comfortable giving and receiving feedback? Check out the comments to learn about the courses we offer to help you improve these skills. How do you push yourself to grow, even when it’s uncomfortable? Let’s talk below. ?? #ContinuousImprovement #Coaching #GrowthMindset #Feedback #LearnGrowAchieve

  • A Season of Impact: Beyond the Badge & Go Red Day Season 3 of Beyond the Badge wrapped up with a special finale—and we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate than by honoring Go Red Day across the Mount Sinai Health System. ?? A huge shout-out to our TDL colleague, Steve Fecteau, CPXP, who wore bright red to raise awareness for heart disease in women. In this finale, we shared 19 more Faculty and Staff stories of excellence, bringing our total to 724 stories over three years with over 10,000 views from our amazing audience! One of the highlights featured colleagues cheering for Medical Secretary Miguel Rodriguez in the Breast Surgery Department at Mount Sinai West, as Andres Moreira, MHA, System Senior Director of Patient Experience, shared Miguel’s recognition story on Beyond the Badge. ?? Beyond the Badge is more than recognition—it’s a reminder of how much we achieve together, how we go above and beyond for each other and our patients. We’re just getting started! Looking ahead to Season 4 in March, we’re excited to continue sharing inspiring stories. ?? Supporting initiatives like Go Red Day is about driving change together. Whether it’s heart health or any cause that impacts us, we’re stronger as one Mount Sinai. Let’s keep inspiring each other. #BeyondTheBadge #GoRedDay #MountSinai #Teamwork
