MITRE’s BlueTech work focuses on advancing maritime technology, strengthening climate resilience, and increasing national security and safety. As an unbiased, not-for-profit organization, MITRE is connecting government, industry, and academia to solve some of the world’s most pressing maritime technology challenges.
The MITRE BlueTech Lab is a state-of-the-art, indoor maritime test facility and collaborative laboratory that empowers the regional BlueTech innovation community to rapidly prototype new technology quickly and safely. Featuring one of the largest tanks in the region (106’ x 40’ x 19.7’), the BlueTech Lab is outfitted with high quality camera and video capture systems and enables testing of autonomous vehicles, underwater communication, and acoustic sensing systems.
The lab is also the headquarters for MITRE’s BlueNERVE—a virtually accessible network that enables the accelerated development of solutions for subsurface/undersea conditions for a range of climate, national security, coastal resiliency, fishing/aquaculture applications, and more. BlueNERVE connects BlueTech laboratories, enabling data and knowledge sharing in real-time across distributed geographic locations and institutions.
