Major League Baseball players honor the life of the late Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) Executive Director, Michael Weiner, through the Michael Weiner Scholarship for Labor Studies. Awarded by the MLB Players Trust, the scholarship program seeks to recognize and support the efforts of graduate and/or law school students dedicated to improving the lives of workers. The MLB Players Trust also provides support, resources, and networking opportunities to alumni of the scholarship program as they continue to move forward in their educational and vocational journeys. Michael was a champion for all workers seeking an opportunity to better their lives, and the scholarship program in his name memorializes his dedication to the Players Association, the rights of its membership, and the pipeline of talent entering the field of workers’ rights. The Players Trust also provides support, resources, and networking opportunities to alumni of the scholarship program as they continue to move forward in their educational and vocational journeys.
