Trailblazers like Dr. Gladys Emerson and Dr. Ivy Ilves paved the way for innovation in veterinary medicine. In the 1940s and beyond, Dr. Emerson’s groundbreaking work on vitamin research, including isolating vitamin E in its purest form, revolutionized animal and human nutrition, earning her the prestigious Garvan Medal in 1952. And in the 1970s, Dr. Ilves and the THIBENZOLE team developed critical anti-parasitic treatments, impacting both animal and human health globally. This Women’s History Month, we honor their contributions and the doors they opened for future generations in science and medicine.
