IVL2 is how the University of Maryland's Robert H. Smith School of Business is working with public and private partners to shift the national narrative on veteran employment from sympathy to strategy. WHY? Because America, our communities and our free markets need veteran leaders. U.S. military and vet professionals are not just confident and experienced. They are resilient, they are diverse, and they are trusted. For more than a decade, the U.S. military and its leaders have consistently topped polls of U.S. citizens on where our united confidence lies in uncertain times. Yet veteran leaders still need help. Military transition is hard for post-911 vets, perhaps harder than ever. Federal policies and diversity incentives have alleviated unemployment, but underemployment and underrepresentation of vet leaders outside government and defense markets persists. A full 75% of the nation's top industries hire vets at lower rates than their non-vet peers. This must change. HOW? IVL2 is an open cooperative platform to channel public-private ideas and investments into programs and partnerships with three missions: (1) ENHANCE VET PRESENT VALUE with sustainable solutions to vet underemployment; (2) ENABLE VET LIFELONG LEARNING by connecting cross-generational leaders for U.S enterprise; and (3) ELEVATE VET ENTREPRENEURSHIP by evidencing its ties to community and economic development. Each mission is advanced through: ? Vet transition seminars, speaker series, and venture programs; ? Data-driven collaboration with corporate and non-profit organizations; and ? Joint initiatives with other U.S. universities investing in our nation’s veterans. JOIN US!
