关于我们
The Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs is New York City’s only public graduate school dedicated to public affairs. Since 1994, the School has offered undergraduate and graduate-level degrees in public policy and administration, and a Master of Science in Education program in Higher Education Administration (MSEd-HEA). In the Fall of 2017, we launched a Master of International Affairs (MIA) degree program. We draw upon one of the largest public affairs faculty in the nation, and apply an interdisciplinary approach to teaching, research, and professional development, and offer scholarships, graduate assistantships, hybrid courses, flexible schedules, and exceptional value. Why Marxe? New York City is home to the United Nations; global businesses and foundations; prestigious institutions of higher learning; thousands of nonprofits; and more non-governmental and international non-governmental organizations than any other American city. 8,000+ alumni can attest that there is no better place to study public affairs and administration, international affairs, or higher education administration; and no better place to experience an educational experience built on principles of rigor, access, and value than Baruch College‘s nationally recognized Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs. In 2016, the School received a historic $30M gift from entrepreneur and Baruch alumnus, Austin W. Marxe and changed its name from the School of Public and International Affairs to the Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs. The gift has enabled an increase in scholarships and study abroad programs; the establishment of faculty chairs; and the development of public policy programming (Marxe Talks, Global Insights, Marxe Issues) that convene with thought leaders for critical discussions on vital issues. Community organizer, political strategist, and storyteller. Co-Founder & Former Executive Director United We Dream & United We Dream Action
I’m excited to reveal the final cover of my book, Dreaming of Home, How We Turn Fear Into Pride, Power, and Real Change, coming May 27! As ICE is targeting our communities for deportation, regardless of immigration status, in schools, churches and their homes, I offer this book to remind us that we are not alone and despite what anyone says, we are not powerless. This is the book I needed when I was undocumented, afraid, and ashamed. This is the book that America needs right now--as a roadmap to building community, power, and winning real change, even when the world around us seems to be crumbling. Preorder now: bit.ly/DreamingOfHomeBook To my immigrant and refugee community, this book is for you. It’s my way of saying you are worthy of freedom, safety, and love.

?? #MarxeSchool Faculty Feature! ??? Exciting news! Professor Don Waisanen joins the latest episode of the CosmoParenting Podcast to explore how the improv technique "yes, and" can transform parenting. ??♂??????? Ever catch yourself saying "no" more than you'd like? Don shares how shifting to "yes, and" can create more meaningful and productive interactions with your kids. ???? ?? Listen now: https://lnkd.in/d5i-64Ys #MarxeFaculty #MarxePride #Parenting #ImprovInLife
When do you need to say 'no' in your parenting? When can you try saying 'yes'? Episode 8 of the CosmoParenting Podcast is out now and in this episode, Abbie VanMeter is joined by Don Waisanen- a professor at The City University of New York (CUNY) in the Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs at Baruch College; a consultant; author; improviser; and father to three boys- to explore some communication practices to integrate into parenting to create productive and meaningful patterns. In this episode, Don offers us the improv practice of "yes, and" to use in parenting. Don asks us to consider how often we are saying "no" and where they may be opportunities to turn some of those "nos" into "yeses" and consider what pattern you are creating with your kid. Don shares of his own experience: "What I've come to realize is, as an improviser, I'm used to saying ‘yes, and’ so much in performance and in work and those types of things. But the area of life I have the hardest time saying ‘yes, and’ in, is in parenting. But when I make a conscious effort to remember to do it, I think it's pretty transformational." Now it's your turn! Where can you add a "yes, and" into your parenting this week? Let us know how it feels, what you learn, and what you create!
