After a long, hot summer, autumn is finally in full effect, and we're loving it!

We are delighted to announce that the new LLUH Pharmacotherapy Clinic opened recently, with LLUSP pharmacy faculty members Dr. Alireza Hayatshahi, Dr. Jody Gonzalez, and Dr. Brittany Migliozzi looking forward to serving members of our community! Dr. Hayatshahi, Vice Dean of Clinical Affairs at LLUSP, has worked tirelessly with administrators from across the institution for months to open this facility, which we are confident will enhance the health of patients and the work of their physicians. The Pharmacotherapy Clinic is housed in the Center for Health Promotion building and will help LLUH Risk Management patients to manage a myriad of chronic conditions.

LLU School of Pharmacy is proud and grateful to be the nation's first Hispanic Center of Excellence in Pharmacy (HCEP). This means we provide education and training for LatinX students to increase Hispanic representation among pharmacists and address minority health issues in San Bernardino, Riverside, and Los Angeles counties. The HCEP program provides tens of thousands of dollars in valuable scholarships to Hispanic students at LLUSP each academic year. Memories from last week's White Coat Ceremony for LLUSP's Class of 2028... ??

The hour-long drive to Victorville to catch up with Dr. Lawrence Chui (LLUSP Class of 2020) was absolutely worth it! Dean Kyle Sousa and Director of Alumni Engagement Ms. Jen Mathew were delighted to learn that Dr. Chui is now Pharmacy Manager at Kaiser Permanente High Desert Outpatient Pharmacy, and he is doing a phenomenal job! Dr. Chui is committed to lifting up and serving his employees rather than micromanaging them, which he says is something he took from his education at Loma Linda University and its emphasis on wholeness and service. Dr. Chui, thank you for describing your work; explaining your challenges, goals and ideas; and introducing us to the fine people you work with at KP's High Desert Outpatient Pharmacy.
