?? Exciting Updates from COP 29 in Azerbaijan! ?? We are thrilled to highlight one of our incredible Local Pathways Fellows, Shalom Iboh, founder of Renew Watts Technologies, who is actively engaging in global climate action at COP 29 in Azerbaijan. In her latest update, Shalom shares key highlights from the conference: ?? Carbon Market Negotiations: Momentum is building around operational discussions for the "Article 6" carbon market framework. ?? Climate Finance: Over $750 million has been pledged so far, including $50 million from Australia and $20 million from Sweden. However, significant contributions are still needed to reach the $1.5 trillion target for energy transition and loss and damage funding. ?? NDCs (Nationally Determined Contributions): COP 29's presidency is encouraging countries to incorporate renewable energy and energy efficiency commitments in their plans. As the conference progresses, Shalom highlights the importance of these developments and remains optimistic for meaningful outcomes during the closing plenary. Meet Michael Ojo, LPF 2021 Fellow from Nigeria, who founded "Let's Build for Humanity," a youth-led non-profit dedicated to addressing the critical issue of open defecation in Nigeria. Through his passion and hard work, Michael secured a grant to launch?Project T, a small-scale but scalable initiative that offers hope and a practical approach to fighting open defecation in local communities. Access to safe and resilient toilets isn't just about hygiene; it’s about human dignity, public health, and a more peaceful world. However, for 3.5 billion people globally, this basic right is still out of reach. Climate change, conflict, and disasters continue to disrupt and threaten sanitation services, making efforts like Michael’s more vital than ever. Together, let’s amplify solutions and push for?#SafeToiletsForAll?by 2030! Every step forward matters in building resilient sanitation systems that safeguard our collective future.
