American Public Health Association 2024 convention
With some 12,000 attendees the #APHA2024 convention opened with a bang on Oct 27, 2024!
But the largest gathering of public health professionals in the nation started our annual meeting with a fitting tribute to the indigenous people of Minnesota — who are by all definition the true Owner of the land!
The dignified music and prayer they shared with us on the grand stage is a solemn reminder that the rest of us are immigrants, migrants and occupants to the great land we called United States of America, at various point in the history. They also reminded us the greatness of American we know today was, is and will always be about diversity, equity, inclusion.
I’m thrilled and grateful to be at this conference, meeting old friends and making new ones, all with the shared mission of bringing health, justice and equity to our community through public health.
