The panel discussed LISC and Brooking's Community-Centered Economic Inclusion Model and how it has been used to drive equitable economic growth in one of Southwest Detroit's Industrial Districts. Exciting news! The City of Detroit has broken ground on Preserve on Ash I (POA I) in North Corktown, part of a $1B investment in affordable housing. This project includes 69 mixed-income units and 5,800 sq ft of retail space, made possible by a $30M Choice Neighborhoods grant. Phase I features 48 units restricted to 30%-60% AMI.

LISC Detroit hosted a full day training for Workforce Coaches in our Greater Detroit Centers for Working Families Network on July 24, 2024. During the training, facilitated by Workforce Professionals Training Institute (WPTI), workforce professionals got to share their expertise and learn from others on strategies that get job seekers hired and empowering job seekers to effectively manage their job search process.
