Last night, something strange happened… It was 12:50am. I was in bed, deep into a series, when my doorbell rang. My heart literally skipped a beat. I paused. Sat up. Stared at the door like it would speak. Who on earth could be visiting at that hour? I waited a few minutes, then tiptoed to the living room quietly, like I was in a movie. I peeked through the curtain… and saw a man ringing all the doorbells on my floor. He looked lost. Disoriented. And somehow frustrated. Still, I wasn’t about to open my door. And especially being a woman living alone. I called security instead. The guard came, spoke to him, and eventually took him downstairs. I stayed up a little longer and called the guard to ask what had happened. Turns out, the guy had come in with his girlfriend, but she went ahead, got to the house, and locked him out, without telling him which apartment it was. They’d had a fight, and now she wasn’t answering his calls. So he rang every doorbell, hoping one would be hers. I felt two things: disturbed… and a little sorry for him. We’ve all had moments where emotions get the best of us. Sometimes it’s not just about being right. It’s about being kind even when you’re mad. Better communication on both sides would have saved us all a lot of disturbance… and sleep. If you were in my situation, would you answer the door?
