Who expects a raise or promotion next year? Less than half of U.S. employees (45%) expect to receive a pay raise in the next six months, according to the latest findings of LinkedIn’s Workforce Confidence Index. What’s more, under a quarter of workers expect to be promoted in the next year (22%). Economic uncertainty and inflation are likely contributing to workers' current outlooks, and employers’ budgets for pay increases. LinkedIn’s separate Executive Confidence Index survey found that nearly half (49%) of U.S. executives say that pay raises and promotions at their organizations have recently become more limited than they were in the past few years. Do these findings line up with what you expect? What advice do you have for someone still angling to secure that raise or promotion this year? Weigh in below. ??: Rachel Cromidas ??: Allie Lewis, Bud Rashidian, Cynthia Yee

Between 70 and 80 million Americans have some type of criminal record. For the approximately one in three adults that figure represents, this adds an additional challenge to the job search process. For job seekers who have a record, Daniel Yanisse, co-founder and CEO of Checkr, an AI-powered background check company, recommends "owning it" during the hiring process. "Own the mistakes and the things that might have happened in the past, but also share all of the great things [you] have done since then," Daniel says. “A lot of employers have empathy and they know that not everyone’s perfect.” Plus, if an applicant doesn’t disclose their record until after an offer is made, they risk having the offer rescinded by an employer. Set yourself up for success by being transparent about your past before the background check process begins. For more tips on getting hired with a criminal record, listen to this week’s episode of Get Hired: ?? Apple:?https://lnkd.in/d4ntYydq ?? Spotify: https://lnkd.in/dWDqzU9H

Are you an 'early bird' or a 'night owl'? ?? Wherever you fall on that spectrum is your chronotype, and it’s determined by several factors including genetics, behavior and your environment. There is no 'right' chronotype, but with early start times for work and school, our society has given early birds an advantage over night owls, says science journalist Lynne Peeples. "With this bias towards early birds, we’re creating an uneven playing field from early in life,” Lynne explains. When people are forced to live out of sync with their natural clocks, it can negatively impact their well-being. Studies show that "night owls are less productive, more likely to get sick [and] earn less money” compared to early birds. But it doesn’t have to be this way. Lynne argues that employers could create more efficient workplaces by honoring their employees’ unique chronotypes. Moving meetings to the afternoon when early birds and night owls’ peak performances overlap, for example, could lead to more productive and efficient group work. How would your life change if you could work during the hours you’re most energized? Let us know in the comments. Learn more about chronotypes and what it means for your mental and physical health on this week’s episode of #EverydayBetter: ?? Apple:?https://lnkd.in/dABZwypg ?? Spotify: https://lnkd.in/dCXKjHqS
