I stumbled upon this really cool idea. It essentially offers care providers of elderly patients, especially those with dementia, an opportunity to connect on a more personal level by giving them some simple insights into their patient’s lives. I actually think this would be cool to include in the nursing home packet for patient sent into the emergency department. Just a few simple facts about the patient’s life, what they did for a living, what their hobbies were. I certainly think it would decrease the anxiety of the patient to be able to talk to them about something familiar. https://lnkd.in/g9FhBr2y

Lifetime risk of dementia. New peer-reviewed study published suggests that those aged 55 or older have a 42% risk of developing dementia. That increases an approximate 514,000 cases per year (2020) into almost 1,000,000 per year by 2060. Life Highlights cannot prevent dementia.
