In our 15th year of this wonderful tradition, VALOR, our veteran-focused employee resource group, partnered with Operation Homefront to receive and assemble nearly 100 bikes and 35 helmets across our campuses. The team worked together to make these bicycles available to families of active-duty military and veterans for the holiday season. This effort is close to the hearts of many associates here at Choice Hotels. Thank you to everyone who donated bikes or helmets this year! #lifeatchoice

This Giving Tuesday, we’re happy to announce the 2024 recipients of our Your Community, Your Choice program. The program supports causes that are meaningful to our hotel owners by offering grants to their chosen local organizations. We’re also celebrating five years of Your Community, Your Choice. During that time, we’ve been able to give a total of over $275,000 to nonprofits including those that address food security, veteran support, aid for abuse and trafficking victims, youth education, animal shelters and more. In honor of Diwali the Festival of Light, Choice Hotels Asian American Professionals (CHAAMP) CRG hosted their own Diwali celebrations for all associates to embrace from dancers performing traditional Indian dances to indulging within customary cuisine, and so much more! Today we’re proud to honor those who serve our country, both in our community and among our associates.

We recently welcomed three franchisee members to our North Bethesda headquarters. They had the opportunity to meet with over 400 associates who support them and their hotels behind the scenes, including software engineers, brand design experts, and loyalty team members who enhance the digital presence of their properties and ensure a great guest experience. Sam Patel from Kisna Hospitality shared how he treats employees like family and encourages them to welcome guests the same way. Damon Healey III of Eternal Companies praised Choice’s expertise in the extended stay segment, which led him to partner with us. Thomas Penny III, president of Donohoe Hospitality, which owns a Cambria in Washington, D.C., expressed his appreciation for Choice’s longstanding efforts to bring more underrepresented minority entrepreneurs into the hospitality industry. Events like these are so important because they help our associates truly understand what it’s like to walk in the shoes of our owners, as well as gain a fuller understanding of how their work at Choice impacts our franchisees’ businesses. #lifeatchoice

Bringing diverse backgrounds and perspectives together makes our business better every day. A special thank you to our Hispanic Employee Resource Group (HOLA) for sponsoring several events and educational opportunities for all Choice associates throughout Hispanic Heritage Month. From hosting an inspiring panel discussion with ALPFA on Hispanic entrepreneurship and intrapreneurship to a lively networking event with cafecito and conchas, and collaborating with our Young Professionals Alliance (YPA) for a happy hour, HOLA has truly made this month special. We are proud and honored to accept the first “World’s Leading Sustainable Technology 2024” award from the World Sustainable Travel & Hospitality Awards. Choice Hotels was the first hotel company in the world to equip one of its hotels with the CarbinX. This groundbreaking technology captures and stores permanently the CO2 emitted by the water boilers, reducing gas usage by up to 20%. We are passionate about uniting sustainability, technology and hospitality to make the world a better place, and we will continue to improve the future one hotel at a time.
