The Association of Corporate Counsel (ACC) Foundation released “The 2025 State of Cybersecurity Report: An In-house Perspective” showing that, globally, CLOs are quickly becoming integral leaders in cybersecurity strategy, holding leadership positions, and frequently reporting cybersecurity strategies to the company board. A Noerr team led by Michael Brellochs, Florian Becker and Thomas Heitzer (ALL PICTURED, LEFT TO RIGHT) has advised the Generali Group as part of a consortium on the acquisition of the Viridium Group. Viridium is a leading European life insurance consolidation platform. A consortium made up of Allianz, BlackRock and T&D Holdings will acquire ownership of Viridium from Cinven. Generali Financial Holdings and Hannover Re will remain investors in Viridium and join the consortium. Through this transaction, the financial advisor Cinven exits from its majority investment in Viridium after more than a decade of developing a highly successful insurance business. The transaction value amounts to approximately €3.5 billion. The International Bar Association (IBA) has unveiled the second phase of its comprehensive “50:50 by 2030” initiative, which aims to tackle persistent gender disparity in leadership positions throughout the legal sector. Working in partnership with LexisNexis‘ charitable foundation, the IBA’s Legal Policy and Research Unit is launching this next stage with a comprehensive global survey targeting female legal professionals across all practice areas. The project was championed by Almudena Arpón de Mendívil Aldama (PICTURED), the IBA’s recent past president from Spain, during her two-year leadership term. The initial phase produced 11 regional reports covering jurisdictions across five continents, including the United Kingdom, the Netherlands, Nigeria, and Mexico. The program received recognition at the 2024 Women and Diversity in Law Awards hosted by this publication. Current IBA president Jaime Carey underscored the importance of continuing his predecessor’s work on gender inequality in the legal field.
