THEY CAUGHT IT! This is the first launch of SpaceX’s Starship where they successfully catch the first stage back at the landing site on the launch towers' arms (aka the chopsticks). The second stage continues into a slightly sub-orbital trajectory, where it goes for a soft targeted landing in the Indian Ocean roughly an hour later; this time with significantly less melting thanks to the upgraded heat shield. Josh Standerfer says this is huge. “With SpaceX success in completing the full profile, it marks a major step forward for the demonstration of rapid reusability in heavy-class rockets.“ Ad astra.

NEWS: Earth will have a temporary mini-moon for two months. A small asteroid, designated '2024 PT5,' will be captured by Earth's gravity later this month. This brief phenomenon will begin on 29 September and last until 25 November. During that period, this asteroid will orbit Earth before continuing its journey through the solar system.

We're at the Bengaluru Space Expo this week. If you're here, come visit. The Indian space sector is recognised for building cost-effective satellites with launch of the Mars probes successfully at first attempt and taking hundreds of foreign satellites to space. India constitutes 2-3% of the global space economy and is expected to enhance its share to more than 10% by 2030.

"Back at home we all have a lot of work to do, but from here, Earth sure looks like a perfect world." CEO of tech company Shift4 and Polaris Dawn Mission Commander, Jared Isaacman's first words after exiting their fully depressurized Crew Dragon spacecraft in specially-designed SpaceX EVA spacesuits. This mission marks the first-ever extravehicular activity (EVA) spacewalk by commercial astronauts and serves as building blocks to help further spaceflight capabilities and human exploration. ?? A new age of space has arrived. Yesterday, at 5:23 AM ET, Polaris Dawn successfully launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket at Launch Complex-39A at NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Kennedy Space Center in Florida. Polaris Dawn is a five-day mission comprised of four private citizens set to carry out the first spacewalk by an all-civilian crew. This mission will transport its four crew members to a record-breaking altitude of 870 miles above Earth’s surface—the highest orbital altitude achieved by humans since the final Apollo moon mission in 1972. That’s over three times higher than the International Space Station. ?? SpaceX
