Sgt. Grager and PSW Mentzer shared insights into Lancaster City’s PSW program, which has successfully operated for the past five years. They highlighted how the program fosters collaboration between law enforcement and social services to address the complex needs of the community. Their presentation demonstrated the positive, lasting impact this partnership has had on both public safety and community well-being.

Lancaster City Bureau of Police Announces the Passing of Retired K-9 Stryker. It is with great sadness the Lancaster City Bureau of Police announces the passing of retired K-9 Stryker who was peacefully laid to rest last night, October 10, 2024. Stryker, a Belgian Malinois, served the Lancaster City Police from 2016 to 2019 and was trained as a dual-purpose K-9 in narcotics and patrol. Stryker was partnered with Sgt. Reppert during his tenure with the Bureau. After retirement, K-9 Stryker enjoyed life as a house dog with Sgt. Reppert and family. Over the past several months, Stryker began?experiencing?difficulty walking. Sadly, as the pain became unbearable, Sgt. Reppert, with the guidance and support of Stryker's veterinarian, made the heartbreaking decision to humanely put him to rest. K-9 Stryker passed away peacefully with the Reppert family by his side. Stryker would have been 10 years old on October 21, 2024. His memory will always be honored, and his legacy will live on in the Lancaster City Bureau of Police and the community he served. Thank you to everyone who supported K-9 Stryker, notably those who donated to the Lancaster City Police Foundation. Please keep Sgt. Reppert and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

This morning, we joined Hazel I. Jackson Middle School and the Lancaster City Bureau of Fire in honoring the lives lost and the heroes who selflessly responded on September 11, 2001. We will never forget their bravery, sacrifice, and the resilience of our nation. Photo Credit: School District of Lancaster

Our Police Athletic League (PAL) partnered with the Lancaster City Track Club to send 18 kids to the AAU Junior Olympic National Championship Meet in North Carolina. Over seven days, kids from across the country competed against some of the best young talent. Three of our athletes emerged as first-time All-Americans, each finishing in the top 8. Vivian Salerno captured a bronze medal in the 800m for the 15/16 age group, Jada Lubin also earned bronze in the 15/16 Javelin, and Max Riccomini placed 5th in the 17/18 men's Javelin. When not competing, we enjoyed relaxing by swimming in the lake, fishing, paddle boarding, or lounging on the dock. While in North Carolina, the group visited the University of North Carolina, where they toured the basketball museum, and Duke University. They got a feel for life at a large university and explored the track facilities at both campuses. Many of our participants had their best performances of the summer, and all of them came away with memories to last a lifetime. Learn how your athlete can join PAL on our website: https://lnkd.in/d_4ybf8x
