Focus on Diversity: At KfW IPEX-Bank, we are dedicated to increasing the representation of women in leadership roles. FeLI, the Network of Female Leaders at KfW IPEX-Bank, contributes to this vision by empowering women and fostering a diverse and inclusive work environment. Recently, FeLI hosted an inspiring event with Melanie Kehr, a member of the Executive Board of KfW. She laid out, why cultivating a diverse culture is a tangible business case: ?? Germany currently faces a significant shortage of skilled workers, with 573,000 open positions, according to a study by the German Economic Institute (May 2024). Addressing this gap could unlock an additional production potential of 1.1%-points. ?? Possible mitigants are digitalization, enabling greater participation of women in the workforce, extending retirement, and skilled migration. ?? Furthermore, it was highlighted that diverse teams are proven to be most effective, leading to increased efficiency. However, this necessitates an inclusive company culture and modern leadership style. Velibor Marjanovic, Member of the Management Board of KfW IPEX-Bank and acting as FeLI's sponsor, confirmed Melanie’s view and voiced his support for the advancement of women's careers at KfW IPEX-Bank. He also made clear that a stronger focus on female careers is a crucial element of diversity, though not the only one. Teams should be divers in many aspects, including different social or ethnic backgrounds. The ensuing discussion revolved around measures to initiate cultural change and how FeLI can contribute to this transformation. The event was rounded off by Rose Field from KfW Stiftung, who presented the media installation Phloem by Daniel Canogar, which is currently on display at KfW-headquarters in #Frankfurt. This innovative artwork, inspired by weaving technology and energy data, serves as a powerful metaphor for the potential of combining diverse competences within teams to yield more efficient and creative results. ??
