The American system of taxation is based on the premise that all income is taxable (which includes illegally earned income). In many instances, proving that a taxpayer willfully attempted to hide income from the Federal Government is an integral part of proving other criminal activity including fraud, money laundering or Bank Secrecy Act violations. Criminal Investigation continues to fulfill the important role of helping to ensure the integrity and fairness of our nations' tax system.

Today IRS Criminal Investigation hosted students and faculty from #GeorgiaSouthernUniversity The attendees had the opportunity to hear from various sections of CI, gaining a deeper understanding of how each section supports the field offices and employees in the field. Attention Juniors and Seniors! Exciting news—IRS Criminal Investigation (CI) will soon be announcing our prestigious Pathways Student Internship, expected to go live the first week of October. This is a fantastic opportunity to kickstart your career in a dynamic and challenging field, so don’t wait—start preparing your resume and supporting documents now! The job posting will only be open for a short window, potentially no more than 10 days, so you’ll want to be ready. Here are a few key things to keep in mind before applying: 1) You must be enrolled full-time and graduate by the time the internship concludes. 2) If your degree isn’t in accounting, you’ll need to supplement it with the necessary accounting units. 3) We’re planning to onboard selected applicants in June or July 2025, giving you plenty of time to prepare for this incredible opportunity. 4) This internship could lead to a full-time position with CI if you successfully complete the program.
