Ioannis Kevrekidis, Bloomberg Distinguished Professor in Applied Mathematics and Statistics and Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering, is part of a research team studying a new mathematical model that reveals how small changes in water vapor movement could trigger major shifts in ocean currents—key to understanding potential tipping points in our climate. This research helps predict these shifts and highlights the vital connection between climate dynamics and applied mathematics. https://lnkd.in/e8wW872w

We’ve wrapped up another successful AMS NYC Grad Student Takeover! This event was a fantastic opportunity for our graduate students, featuring a full day of networking at the 2024 National Finance Quantitative Career Fair at NYU, followed by an insightful employer site visit to J.P. Morgan Chase. Our students had the privilege of hearing from a distinguished panel of AMS alumni: Rifat Chowdhury ’06, James P. Pettit ’98, David Kaminsky ’21, along with Columbia University alums Chun Kam Li and Anna Flieder, all now thriving at J.P. Morgan.
