Biomedical trainees starting careers as faculty members and other early-career faculty in academia recently gained skills and expert guidance to thrive in the next step of their careers during The Jackson Laboratory's 'Bench to Classroom' course! Bench to Classroom participants learned how to: ? Balance the roles of teaching, research and university service ? Develop a research program with undergraduate students ? Overcome common obstacles in higher education The interactive course aimed to provide the necessary expertise and insights for success as faculty at predominantly undergraduate institutions. JAX Genomic Education (GE) offers integrated, inclusive and increasingly digital teaching and learning experiences focused on the intersection of complex genetics, genomics, computational biology and bioinformatics. We recruit diverse cohorts of learners to our experiential programming for exceptional hands-on research training. The GE team takes a holistic approach to program development, combining conceptual education with the science communications, collaboration, translational and skills training required to succeed in modern scientific and clinical settings. Our programs accelerate the development of high school, undergraduate, postbaccalaureate, graduate and postdoctoral learners who are focused on careers in the biomedical sciences. JAX courses and workshops serve those same audiences in addition to clinicians, research assistants, scientists, lab technicians and science teachers.

Today, JAX Education and University of New England launched a course to directly empower the next generation of health care providers to utilize genomics in their practices and improve patient care.
