Europe’s security and defence readiness will increasingly depend on one crucial factor: our ability to manufacture critical electronics. With this week’s adoption of the ReArm Europe plan and the European Commission’s White Paper on defence, now is the time to ensure electronics are at the core of industrial defence strategy. ? Our new report outlines 13 key policy recommendations, including: ? A strategic review of Europe’s electronics capacity ? New financing allocations for defence electronics ? Greater support for SMEs to scale and innovate We also recommend an urgent review of electronics capacity, focusing on printed circuit boards, IC substrates, and advanced packaging Read our full recommendations here ???https://lnkd.in/ew2_gXiu

Europe’s electronics industry can’t afford to wait. The European Commission’s new proposed Omnibus regulations and Clean Industrial Plan provide opportunities, but only if implemented with urgency and clarity. IPC has long advocated for a 25% reduction in regulatory burdens and smarter policies that balance?sustainability with industrial growth.?While compliance delays are a positive step, complex due diligence requirements still pose challenges. As IPC Senior Director, Europe, Government Relations?Alison James?put it: “Today’s announcements aim to rectify the strategic disadvantages that have made it difficult for European industry to grow and compete.” Now is the time to ensure these policies drive real, lasting impact.?https://bit.ly/41wLdCO

The time for action is now. Strengthening Europe’s electronics manufacturing is essential to securing our future. Read the recommendations here: https://bit.ly/3LVpE6k
Europe's Technological Crossroads: Time for Action The electronics industry is vital to Europe’s innovation and economic resilience. Nevertheless, Europe’s share of global PCB production has decreased from 11.2 percent to 2.3 percent in two decades. Without urgent action, we risk falling further behind. In a feature in B?rsen this week, CEO of GPV, Bo Lybaek highlighted that “Europe must act boldly to remain competitive. The European Chips Act is a step in the right direction, but we need a broader European Electronics Act to support the entire value chain and boost innovation. I want to thank Ursula von der Leyen and the European Commission for their initiative with the Competitiveness Compass, which rightly prioritises focus on innovation, reducing bureaucracy, and strengthening supply chains. However, it is decisive that the initiative does not introduce new administrative burdens, which require further resources but instead simplifies and accelerates European competitiveness.” We need reduced bureaucracy, an innovation-friendly business climate, and improved European framework conditions #AccomplishMore #Innovation #Electronics #EuropeanLeadership #Competitiveness? Europe’s electronics industrial base is shrinking, and the fire at CSI Sud Ouest is the latest warning sign. The disruption to aerospace and space industries highlights how fragile Europe’s supply chain has become. The European Commission’s?Competitiveness Compass?sets a vision for prosperity and growth. However, achieving this requires?stronger public-private collaboration and investment in electronics manufacturing.?Without action, Europe risks?falling further behind?in global competitiveness. The lesson is clear: a resilient industrial base is a strategic necessity. It’s time to rebuild, invest, and secure the future of European manufacturing. ?? https://bit.ly/4hdD7ok
