Product safety regulations It has been widely accepted that the current UK legislation and regulatory regime in relation to product safety are outdated and arguably no longer fit for purpose in today’s society. In its current guise, the UK’s consumer product safety regime is broadly derived from EU legislation. However, consumer habits and the way that we purchase and consume products has changed significantly over the last 30 years. As a result, there is a clear need to update our laws and regulations to keep pace with these changes and to provide adequate consumer safety and protection.
