After nearly 30 years with Innospec Fuel Specialties, our Chief Operating Officer, Phil Boon, is set to retire. When Phil, a PhD scientist, joined the company, our Fuel Specialties business was a small but ambitious segment of the organization. Today, he leaves behind a market-leading business and an immensely talented team under the leadership of Vali Jerome. Reflecting on his career at Innospec, Phil said, “It’s been an incredible journey. We have acquired businesses, developed market-changing products, opened new regional offices and manufacturing facilities, and built a fantastic team over the years. After carrying out extensive tests, ScotRail (UK) projected a reduction for its diesel rail fleet CO2e emissions by 3676 tonnes a year by switching to the high-performance fuel additive ECOCLEAN?. This remarkable achievement followed extensive testing and a commissioned trial in 2020 involving our skilled chemists and engineers, in partnership with Fuelcare Ltd. The trial produced impressive results, demonstrating that ECOCLEAN? effectively reduces emissions by removing engine deposits and restoring engines to an 'as new' condition. Wade Pang commented, "I am really proud to have been part of this project as we work to assist our customers in decarbonizing the railway with our ECOCLEAN? fuel additive technology. Despite the many challenges faced during the trial, we have persevered to drive this to success and contribute to reducing CO2 emissions in the UK." This initiative exemplifies our commitment to sustainability and innovation, supporting a cleaner future in the diesel rail industry.
