As #COP29 concludes, we can reflect on two weeks of impactful conversations, significant launches, and collective progress toward a net-zero future. ?? Uniting for action - Together with 50+ leading companies and coalitions representing over 1,000 stakeholders, we launched an open letter calling on governments worldwide to adopt green demand policies. Scaling industrial decarbonisation - The pathway to 1.5°C depends on accelerating progress. While the pipeline of decarbonised projects is expanding, just 20% of the necessary financing is in place. Industrial #decarbonisation is within reach. The technologies and solutions already exist within heavy industry and transport to enable rapid decarbonisation, but progress to start production of these solutions is lagging. Targeted policies are required now to drive investment and speed up construction of green facilities. Last week at #COP29 we launched the 'Green Demand Policy Playbook', intended to inform and support domestic policy making. It sets out a range of policy measures available to governments to create demand for low- and near-zero-carbon products. Governments have a fundamental role in accelerating the industrial transition. What we need to achieve is not possible without implementing supportive policy to structurally embed demand. We were pleased to participate in the Transition Finance Roundtable, hosted by Oliver Wyman and the Industrial Transition Accelerator (ITA) this month in Abu Dhabi. The roundtable brought together leaders from the public and private sectors, financial institutions, and industry to address the critical challenge of financing the industrial transition. Some of the questions explored during the roundtable included: ?? What is Transition Finance and what does it constitute? ?? What is the state of Transition Finance in the Middle East? ?? What are some of the risks and blockers facing Transition Finance? ?? What are some of the key sectors most in need of transition finance? Great to see UK setting an exponential goal for SAF by 2030. This will get the innovation and investment going. 10% may sound low but it's 1000x the 2000 level, that's exponential!! My prediction - by 2030 the 2040 goal of 22% will look easy and be ratcheted up to above 50%!!! This Thursday, MPP CEO and Industrial Transition Accelerator (ITA) Executive Director, Faustine Delasalle, will be speaking at IFA’s Strategic Forum Conference in Madrid, 8.30 -10.30am CET. This International Fertilizer Association (IFA) event will examine the evolving commodity landscape, exploring fertiliser industry dynamics. The chemicals sector, and ammonia production in particular, is a core focus for both MPP and the ITA. The partnership is a significant step in mobilising critical investments and accelerating the region’s transition to a sustainable industrial future.
