This is why we are advocating for music education in the early part of life as well as throughout the life span. The work of Dr. Nina Kraus, Dr. Ani Patel, and Dr. Daniel Levitin talk about how music strengthens the auditory system like no other activity. The OPERA hypothesis is a great study to refer to. It also helps with detecting 'speech in noise', which affects the elderly. They claim that even if you played music for a few years in childhood, it still has a positive lingering effect on the brain's auditory system in the adult years. NeuroSomatic Creativity? uses the arts to build the brain for excellence and creative thinking in non-arts areas (as well as arts for arts sake!). #BrainHealth #BrainCapital #Curiosity #arts #PrismaticLeadership #LyricsNleadership #neuroSomaticCreativity

The arts build better healthier brains. I believe this and I stand by this statement. So being in Dallas at the Center for BrainHealth's Celebration this week and seeing how they are infusing art health into their brain health strategy is inspiring and serves as a great template for all organizations and companies. The NeuroScapes panel was very insightful and spoke on the power of photography for expression, leadership and brain health. The arts build your brain to: ??Think metaphorically ??Activate your 'Default Mode Network' ??Increase self awareness ??Increase Observation ??Increase ability to shift perspective ??Lower stress and much more! #BrainHealth #BrainCapital #Curiosity #arts #PrismaticLeadership #LyricsNleadership #neuroSomaticCreativity

Art can speak in many ways. Here's how it spoke to our co-founder Genein. "Sophia, a former 5th grade student, drew this for me in 2018, knowing my fascination and admiration of Abraham Lincoln. With rainbow colors highlighting his face, it resonated with me. Just like in all light there are hidden colors of the rainbow, there are also hidden gifts and abilities within us, no matter our start in life. Prismatic leaders are the ones who see these hidden gifts within themselves and others and can draw them out. In 2024, I read Steve Inskeep’s ‘Differ We Must’ and he mentioned how Lincoln’s 1st inaugural address was stored in a wet carpet bag and ended up in rainbow colors as well. (Listen below). I then made the ?? creative connection. On this day, remember to be a prism?? for others and shine bright! Music, dance, theater, and visual arts aren’t just enjoyable pastimes—they’re powerful tools for building essential skills, especially in children, to navigate an ever-changing future. The arts foster perspective-taking, confidence, metaphorical thinking, leadership, and so much more. Our healthcare arts advisor, Genette Morrison, has shared how her background in dance and music helped her stay adaptable as a Neuro-ER nurse, where high-stress situations and life-or-death decisions are the norm. She also leads her church choir, witnessing firsthand how young singers are developing these same critical skills. It’s all connected—tomorrow’s top leaders will need creative, flexible minds, and the arts are one of the best ways to cultivate them. https://lnkd.in/gXEJTjPA

Brain Capital! In a world dominated by news around artificial intelligence, political polarization, and climate crises, leaders are recognizing that human cognitive capacity—our ability to think, adapt, and collaborate—will determine our collective future. In this podcast, I talk with THE global thought leader of the brain economy, Dr. Harris Eyre, about what we need to know about brain capital and why we ALL, from early education to elderly care, need to be concerned and proactive about this initiative. Brain disorders currently cost the global economy approximately $5 trillion annually, a figure expected to triple by 2030. The workforce and K-12 are two areas that can be strategic in the transition from a brain negative economy to a brain positive economy. We also discuss the role of the arts in building brain capital and how neuroscience is showing how the arts are a game changer in brain adaptability, neuro-resilience and creativity in non-arts areas. Join us for an informational conversation on brain health! Genein Letford an educator, speaker, author & the founder of Prismatic Leadership? and NeuroSomatic Creativity?, which looks to improve creative thinking, resilience & brain health through the use of the arts. Your brain matters. … and the arts can strengthen that 'matter'!?? I introduce the position that the omission of the arts from children AND adults is now a justice issue because of what we now know about the brain. In this dynamic podcast episode we discuss the importance of brain capital, music, emotional regulation, and creativity in personal and educational development. I emphasize the need for breaks to recharge the brain, the significance of integrating arts into education, and the role of curiosity and generosity in leading a fulfilling life. I also highlight the concept of Prismatic Leadership?, which involves recognizing and nurturing the hidden talents of team members. There are many gems in this short conversation! I hope you enjoy it. Thank you Shannon Cassidy for the interview!
