For all Transitioning Military make sure you fill out every field on the applications even if it is on your resume. It is sooooo frustrating but this post explains why you need to put the information in the application and resist the urge to type "see resume". You may be preventing yourself from reaching the view resume stage.

Did you know that YOUR RESUME is sometimes* the last thing we see, when you apply?..... WHAT?! How does that even make sense? THE EVIL.. EVIL ATS!!!!! THAT'S HOW! (hehehehe) In all seriousness, here is the breakdown. 1) Recruiter logs into ATS 2)Recruiter sees a list of open jobs 3) Recruiter clicks on specific role 4) Recruiter sees a list of candidates 5) Recruiter clicks on a candidate 6) Recruiter looks at the candidates profile and sees what the candidate has parsed and or entered into the application fields. 7) Recruiter reviews ALL qualifications entered to see if candidate is a match. 8) If candidate is a match we download the resume 9) Recruiter reads the candidates resume 10) Recruiter rejects or requests a chat SO.. If you're just relying on your resume to get you to the next step, it may be hindering your search. Here is what to do: 1) Make sure your resume is parsing well 2) Fix any mistakes made by parsing 3)Fill out EVERY section even if its on your resume already 4) Don't assume because its on your resume that you don't need to put it on the application. 5) Have a simple and organized resume layout for easier parsing Hope this was helpful!
